Orality is the pervasive trait of language. It operates at all levels of textuality. Information sequencing is part code-controlled, part author-controlled. The combination of these factors guarantees the quality of meaning. Awareness of this is basic to understanding texts. In particular, theatrical texts are seen as self-sufficient, without needing to be staged to fully exist.
