Throughout the 20th century, the diffusion of Spanish-American literature in Italy followed the evolution of publishing, the changes in taste and translation strategies. This article gives a broad view of how this history contributed to the creation, decline, rebirth and transformation of an image of Latin America made up of stereotypes, clashes and encounters, great passions and equally great disappointments.
