Unfamiliar Sayings

by Antonietta Pastore

This paper does not aim to be a theoretical dissertation, but rather a practical survey of the specific problems which arise when translating from Japanese into Italian. These problems are due to the fact that Japanese is naturally written in a different alphabet, but also to the great distance between Italian and Japanese cultures. This paper aims to show the complexity of the translator’s work, but also hopes to provide some clues for beginners.
