There has been a lot of discussion in recent months about the new (and third) translation of The Catcher in the Rye by Matteo Colombo (Einaudi).This article presents an analysis of the first and almost unknown Italian translation by Jacopo Darca (the pen name of Corrado Pavolini) and, using a range of examples, it sheds light on certain relevant aspects.
