In Italian schooling, very little translating goes on, whereas texts translated from other languages are massively used. Languages are taught with a monolingual approach and pluri- and multilingualism are rarely valued. However, in the context of “total disorientation” of contemporary Italy, according to the poet and translator Giovanni Nadiani’s definition, translation should be taught as an act of cultural mediation.
