Ernesto Ferrero, director of the Salone Internazionale del Libro di Torino, has just published his latest novel Disegnare il vento. L’ultimo viaggio del capitan Salgari (Einaudi). Besides being an acclaimed and award winning author — in 2000 he received the Premio Strega for the novel N. — Ferrero is also an accomplished translator: his is the excellent Italian translation of Céline’s Voyage au bout de la nuit (Corbaccio 1992). In this article he recalls his “encounter” with the French author as one of the most memorable experiences of his life.
