by Sergio Atzeni
On 3rd May 1995, four months before his tragic death, Sergio Atzeni held a workshop for the French course students of professor Elena Pessini of Parma University, who recorded the meeting. After a lively account of how he had come to translate Texaco by Chamoiseau, Sergio Atzeni proceeded to describe, with the aid of many examples, the difficulties he had encountered in trying to put into Italian the special and challenging mixture of French and Creole of the original. The transcription of the recording is accompanied by an audio excerpt.
